Alejandro Macias Sustaita, MD
Dr. Alejandro Macias Sustaita was born in Juarez, Mexico and moved to El Paso, Texas with his family at the age of twelve. El Paso quickly became home to Dr. Macias, and to this day he still misses seeing the Star on the Mountain light up the night sky.
Dr. Macias was drawn to the medical field by two things: wanting to help others when they are at their most vulnerable, and the thrill of learning how life itself functions down to the cellular and molecular levels. He loves everything about medicine from working with patients, to appreciating medicine in its purest form, and through the spiritual experience of it.
He chose Gonzaba Medical Group because of their commitment to practicing medicine responsibly and ethically, and because they emphasize high quality of care and patient outcomes above all else. Dr. Macias shares, “Moreover, I was won over by Gonzaba’s deep roots in the community and their culture of treating patients Como Familia”.
Dr. Macias received his Bachelor of Science from The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. He went on to receive his Doctor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, before completing his Internal Medicine Residency at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.
During medical school, Dr. Macias was greatly involved in his community through organizations such as the Houston Outreach, Medicine, Education and Social Services (HOMES) Clinic, where he aided at an outpatient clinic, serving Houston’s indigent population.
In his free time, Dr. Macias enjoys fútbol/soccer, photography, gaming, and marksmanship.
Dr. Alejandro Macias Sustaita is fluent in both English and Spanish.
