Dr. Cardenas is a Board Certified Internal Medicine doctor, who graduated from the Universidad Anahuac Escuela de Medicina, Mexico in 2008. He completed his residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at the Permian Basin Campus in 2015.

Before getting to his residency, he performed clinical research in Houston, TX at St. Luke’s Hospital for almost 2 years and has been published in JACC, Catherterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Journal and Journal of Endovascular Therapy. Dr. Cardenas has successfully given oral presentations at CCC 2009 in Houston and at the TCT 2014 in Washington D.C.

Growing up, Dr. Cardenas was very close with his uncle who was a doctor. He admired that his uncle would treat any person that needed help, even if they were unable to pay and dreamed that he could someday help people in the same way.  Dr. Cardenas joined the Gonzaba team in 2015. From the very start of his career at GMG he liked the way patients are given the highest quality of care. According to him being a member of the GMG team does not feel like work but rather like family helping family.

Dr. Cardenas was elected as a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2019, this is a recognition given by the American College of Physicians ( Largest Society of Internists in the World) that says that your Doctor has made special efforts to be a better Doctor. Ultimately it says your Doctor cares about delivering high quality of care.

He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Long School of Medicine, UT Health San Antonio.
