Dr. Ya-Wen “Amara” Hung was born and raised in Taiwan, a small island rich in culture, history, and advanced technology. It made it a fascinating place to grow up. Dr. Hung, a previous professor in Taiwan, taught marketing and business for almost 20 years, before moving to San Antonio, where she became a doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She has a passion for the ancient healing art of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Dr. Hung received her Master of Science in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Texas Health and Science University and earned her Doctor of Acupuncture with a Chinese Herbal Medicine from AOMA Graduate School of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Hung’s specialties are in treating anxiety, stress, depression, sleep disorders, back pain, neck pain, sciatica, general aches and pains, migraines, headaches, poor energy levels, menopausal symptoms, digestive issues, and more.
She joined Gonzaba in 2024 after visiting with a friend, seeing firsthand the amazing services that Gonzaba offers their patients, “During my first visit I was very impressed with the service provided. When Dr. Hung is not working, she likes to play tennis and pickleball. She also enjoys traveling, spending time in her yard, and landscaping.
Dr. Hung is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
