Dr. Monica Chopra earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH, and earned her Doctor of Medicine from Wright State University in Dayton, OH in 2003. She completed her residency at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh, PA and is a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician.
She chose the medical field because she has a passion for science and wanted to make a positive impact on humanity by becoming a physician and helping others. She practiced for 13 years in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania before moving to San Antonio in 2020. She is a member of the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and the American Association for Physician Leaders (AAPL).
Her approach to treating her patients is rooted in forming a partnership with her patients and becoming their advocate to treat and prevent illness. She enjoys getting to know each of her patients as an individual, which helps her to form a customized plan of care that addresses the patient’s concerns and desires for their health. She has extensive experience in geriatric care, women’s health, and complex disease management. She is skilled in treating chronic diseases like diabetes, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Atrial Fibrillation (Afib), and Depression while practicing preventive care.
She enjoys camping, visiting national parks, nature and biking. She likes to share these experiences with her husband and two children and doggie. Dr Chopra joined Gonzaba Medical Group in 2025 because she shares the philosophy of treating each patient Like Family, Como Familia.
