Dr. Claudia X. Ubinas received her Doctorate of Medicine from the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (Intec) in 2005. She completed her Residency in Internal Medicine at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut, an affiliate of the Yale School of Medicine.

Growing up in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Ubinas Frías says she was born to be a doctor. After receiving a toy ambulance at the young age of five, she told her ailing grandfather that she would use the equipment inside to heal him. Born to help others, Dr. Ubinas Frías specializes in Internal Medicine and Wound Care.

Before joining Gonzaba Medical Group, Dr. Ubinas Frías served as Chief Hospitalist and Director of Infusion Services at Hill Country Memorial Hospital, Associate Medical Director at Ave Maria Hospice in Fredericksburg TX, and Medical Director for the Wound Care Clinic at Hill Country Memorial, earning the esteemed Remarkable Physician Award in 2020!

While completing her residency, Dr. Ubinas Frías was named Teaching Resident of the Year due to her ability to inspire, educate and lead. She brings the same spirit of integrity and patient-centered care to Gonzaba Medical Group. Dr. Ubinas Frías joined Gonzaba in 2023, saying that her values align with Gonzaba’s mission to treat patients Como Familia, Like Family.

In her free time, Dr. Ubinas Frías enjoys traveling to new places and cooking. She especially loves cooking for large groups, like her family reunions in the Dominican Republic.

Dr. Ubinas Frías is fluent in Spanish and English.
