Dr. Douglas G. Valbuena was born and raised in Guayaquil, Ecuador. After earning his medical degree in his hometown, at the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador, he moved to New York in 2008 to begin his residency. Living in multiple countries, Dr. Valbuena has a love for learning about new cultures and enjoys traveling to new destinations with his wife and kids.

He completed his postgraduate training at the Flushing Hospital Medical Center in Flushing, New York. Prior to, Dr. Valbuena was the Medical Director and Rural Physician for the Ministerio de Salud Publica in Ecuador and in 2013 he was a Clinical Assistant and Operations Manager for Essen Medical Associates in the Bronx, New York. He was also a Core Faculty Hospitalist for the Brooklyn Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Valbuena volunteered for Dr. Yoram Amselam Cardiology Department at Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, New York and volunteered for Progressive Neurology in Queens, New York.

Dr. Valbuena has had a lifelong passion for helping others. He chose to go into the medical field so he could dedicate his life to improving the lives of as many people possible. Dr. Valbuena joined Gonzaba Medical Group in 2017, and was impressed by how patients were treated Como Familia, Like Family. He knew immediately that he wanted to be a part of a team that cared so deeply for their patients.

Dr. Valbuena specializes in Internal Medicine, and is certified in Moderate Sedation, in Basic Life Support with AED Certification (BLS), and advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) with the American Heart Association.

Dr. Valbuena is fluent in both English and Spanish.
