To provide an innovative system of medical care that delivers with integrity every day.
Gonzaba Medical Group’s founder, William Gonzaba, M.D., started his family practice in 1960 on South Flores Street, not far from the neighborhood where he was born and raised. In the early 1980s, he brought in additional doctors to help him with a growing patient population. Soon, the doctors outgrew their South Flores clinic. Dr. Bill Gonzaba looked a few blocks down the street to the old Pan American Restaurant building and decided to give the landmark building a new life in the healthcare industry.Read More
I was very impressed with the evolution of the practice into what I would consider – a staff model HMO, or close to it. The quality of the employees was remarkable, and the call center was very orderly and customer oriented! Gonzaba’s call center serves to both provide enhanced patient satisfaction and keep those interrupting calls out of the busy clinics, so they can focus on patient care and productivity.
I was thoroughly impressed with all that you and your team have been able to accomplish. I can honestly say that the system and organization that you have developed is the best representation of a truly sustainable healthcare model that I have seen anywhere in the US (and that is the most aligned with Healthcare Reform).
GMG is an incredibly successful business enterprise delivering superior clinical care to a significant part of the San Antonio community. By treating its patients “Como Familia,” the group has built a loyal following of patients enabling it to attract high quality primary care providers and specialty network that understands how to deliver high value (high quality/ low cost) care.
GMG’s results are nothing short of fantastic. You guys have worked so hard and created what I consider to be one of the premier medical groups in the United States.
I chose Gonzaba Medical Group for its mission statement and core values. Gonzaba Medical Group prides itself on providing quality patient care with respect and dignity to all they serve and that is exactly what my main objective is within this organization.
The Gonzaba Medical Group is located in the vibrant, friendly, multi-cultural city of San Antonio; the eighth largest city in the country. Residents can enjoy the newly opened Tobin Center, a world-class cultural events venue located on the beautiful Riverwalk. The Culinary Institute of American has a campus in San Antonio that reflects the sophisticated foodie scene
San Antonio still retains a small-town feel. It’s friendly, charming and real estate prices can be half from other large metropolitan areas. View a city comparison calculator.

Our providers work primarily a Mon – Fri, 8 AM – 5 PM schedule. There are opportunities to open Saturday clinic hours to concentrate on areas of interest to the provider and your patient base. You can also work additional hours in our Urgent Care Centers.
You will normally practice at one location and treat your panel of patients. Our goal is continuity of care and building the patient – provider relationship. Occasionally you could be asked to assist with a short term change due to a business need but we do everything to keep these occurrences to a minimum.
Most of our providers see in the mid to upper teens (16 – 19) patients per day. Your individual panel will start out smaller as you learn our processes. It will gradually grow from there. If your abilities and desires dictate a larger patient flow each day, we can adjust your template. Our goal is to provide value (quality) to each patient we see.
It will vary depending on whether you are fully licensed (TX license, DPS and DEA) or not. Typically for a fully licensed physician it takes 2 – 3 months; for someone with only a Texas license 3 -4 months; if you have no Texas license process for licensure and credentialing could take from 6 – 8 months.
We have a fully staffed credentialing department who will work with and assist you throughout this process ensuring your ability to see and bill appropriately for the care you will provide to Gonzaba Medical Group patients.
